Everybody has moments in their work day where things get slow and bogged down. Moments when there is nothing to do but sit there. What do you do in those moments? Do you check your Facebook page for the 50th time that day? Do you check your email again? Do you read over the news sites?
Well, how about having a laugh? Charlie Chaplin always said, "a day without laughter is a day wasted." Check out some of these fun (and occasionally informative) sites:
Questionable Content: A several year old webcomic that is hysterical. There is some swearing, drinking and sex but nothing very graphic. I'd keep it away from anyone under 16 or so anyway. I started reading it only several weeks ago but I started from the first comic and read my way through to the current comic. The characters are personalbe and realistic. I can see myself in Dora (and occasionally Faye) when I read it. This link starts from the first.
xkcd: Another webcomic that is very geek orientated and posts on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I think most geeks around the world saw their tech support comic that posted not long ago. I'm not the only one who linked it on my Facebook feed when I saw it. I even have it added as the graphic on my December lab schedule at work. This link starts from the current. If you want to start from the beginning, click there yourself.
Geek Dad: This is a blog with several different posters on the Wired magazine website. I stumbled across it with the posting of 100 things your kids may never know about which made me feel old, by the way. I've found the posts to be entertaining and informative. I check out the blog every day now. The product reviews on Wired are great, too.
I'm suscribed to the RSS feed for all of these. They never fail to perk me right up. I also read LOL cats (and dogs, celebrities, news, graph, and fail blogs), and the Fug Girls.
Humor because some days laughter is all that keeps you sane.
