Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and auld lang syne ?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my jo,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely ye’ll be your pint-stowp !
and surely I’ll be mine !
And we’ll tak a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We twa hae run about the braes,
and pu’d the gowans fine ;
But we’ve wander’d mony a weary fit,
sin auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We twa hae paidl’d i' the burn,
frae morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us braid hae roar’d
sin auld lang syne.
CHORUS
And there’s a hand, my trusty fiere !
and gie's a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll tak a right gude-willy waught,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
As part of a New Year's tradition, I'm burying money again this year. Before dark on New Year's Eve, you bury a paper bill (usually a dollar) while saying, "I bury my debt." Then on New Year's Day, again before dark, you dig it up while saying, "I uncover my wealth."
Once you've buried/uncovered the bill, you can't spend it, but you can donate it. I hold on to mine until the Salvation Army bell ringers are out before Christmas and donate it to them. Not that I don't donate a dollar to them every time I see one anyway. My family does something similar with found money. This year my parent's found $20 in the parking lot. They felt funny about spending it so they left it in the car until they spotted Marines out collecting for Toys for Tots and donated it then. Dad gave them $5 too since he didn't feel the $20 was from them.
I personally put my dollar in a sandwich bag and bury it in a potted plant so I can find it again the next day. I figure it can't hurt so why not?
Back to point, Happy New Year's, y'all!
