Dragon*Con 2011: Packing for the Con

We are getting close people. There are just 9 days left before Dragon*Con starts. I had a freakout on Sunday when I realized how close it is. I still have way to much to do and they haven't posted the pocket program yet. As soon as it's up, I'm going to go all Officer Obie on it (watch this if you don't know what I mean). I like to have my weekend planned out even though BISis and I will probably change things up some.

I've had a mental list of clothes ready for the past month that includes cargo pants, some new geeky t-shirts (thanks to ThinkGeek.com and RiptApparel.com), and new red Converse One Stars. The shoes need insoles (adding to Target shopping list). They're comfy for walking, but not so much for standing on hard surfaces. This weekend I'll start packing my bag and make a shopping run to fill up the survival kit. Unfortunately, the new glasses won't be ready to wear to the Con.

floppy hat (red, white and blue monstrosity from the 1970 World Fair, you'll spot me if I wear it)
spare batteries chargers for the phone, iPod, and camera
hoodie and cardigan (BISis is always wearing mine when I get cold)

 

I haven't even started on my playlist for this year. I'll get that posted tomorrow or Thursday once I figure it out. I also need to decide what episodes I want on the iPod. I'll be bringing along my cables to hook it up to the TV. I'm choosing from Leverage, Eureka, Haven, and Warehouse 13. "Glimpse" from this season of Eureka is a given. How could I not have the Stan Lee episode?

 

Gah. I'm just realizing how much more there is than I thought. I need to find the charger for the camera and charge the battery. Where the hell is the power adapter for that? I need to clear last year's pictures off the memory card. They're backed up already. I need to pick up a battery for my pedometer. I want to know how far I walk this year. Last year BISis drug me all over the place. Ms. We Can Walk to the Aquarium. I already put in a request for a room on the 10th floor or below because I know she just does not get how to handle elevators at a con. We're going to do the stairs often. I can handle 10 floors. 16 floors last year danged near killed me.

 

And I swear, Wil Wheaton as my witness, I WILL NOT GET SICK THIS YEAR!

Leverage: The Cross My Heart Job

Season 4, Episode 9

 

On their way back from a tough job, the team stumbles across the theft of a human heart destined for transplant in a teenage boy. They have only 108 minutes to steal it back and get it to the hospital in time to save the boy.

Parker: Can't we just get another heart?
Eliot: From who?

 

Eliot: You carry high heels in your purse?
Sophie: I always travel with heels.

 

Hardison: This is like stone knives and bear skins. Nobody's asking Eliot ot fight anybody with a Nerf sword.
Eliot: Damascus. 2002.

 

Eliot: Here.
Hardison: It's a girl's badge.
Eliot: Man up.

 

Nate: Last week on that island you faked a volcanic eruption, how is this harder?

 

Nate: Oh, I didn't kill you. God killed you. I just made sure it took.

Comments:
1) Loved Parker's "woohoo" when she stole the bag was fantastic. I always get a laugh from her antics.
2) That was an amazingly emotional scene where Nate talked about Sam. Spectacular work by Tim Hutton.
3) That last line by Nate was horribly creepy. I hope he doesn't start seeing himself as the hand of God.

Eliot: Are we waiting on Parker?
Hardison: No, man. She's at that damned chocolate convention. It's like sending a crack addict to a cocaine convention. Girl texted me about an hour ago and misspelled every damned word. Look. "You geb a yea stiff stub." Probably got chocolate all over the buttons.

 

Nate: Here's the problem. Of course, you can't con a con artist. We're just going to have to steal from him.

 

Eliot: Just say the word, Nate, and I'll come in there and tear their lungs out.

 

Nate: Hardison, you got anything?
Hardison: Nothing, man. Just a tired, overworked hacker who's actually sick of orange soda.

 

Eliot: Thanks, man. That's awesome. I hadn't hit anybody in over 2 weeks.

 

Hardison: So, who's going to point out the big, pink argyle elephant in the room?

 

Hardison: That is, at the same time, beautiful and disturbing.

Comments:
1) Aldis Hodge has a great evil laugh.
2) What the heck was up with the ascots? At one point, Tim Hutton looked like Fred.
3) I just love the looks Christian Kane has on his face in the background when Tim Hutton or Gina Bellman are explaining a plan. I was cracking up while she was explaining things to their "actors." Check out the last photo in the post to see what I'm talking about.
4) Gina Bellman looks fantastic in both the gold dress and the black one at the end. What a great wardrobe.

When taking down a corrupt funeral home, Hardison is kidnapped and buried alive. The team scrambles to find him before he runs out of air.

Eureka Shocker: Cancellation

Syfy has recently announced that they will be cancelling their hit show, Eureka. There had been rumors for the past week, but assurances were given on Twitter by senior exec Craig Engler that the show would continue through season 5 and there would be at least a 6 episode pickup for season 6. As of today, Eureka will only continue through season 5 in 2012 with a holiday episode in December 2011.

This official statement was released:

“After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka. But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we’ve seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end. We are very grateful to Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia, their team of incredible writers, and an amazing cast and crew who have consistently delivered a series we continue to be very proud of. We thank the fans for their support of this show and know they will enjoy its final season in 2012.”

Neal runs across a young thief that the team keeps comparing to him. Even with a bruised ego, Neal tracks down the thief and tries save him.
