A pair of young girls brutally murder a taxi driver and one then escapes from her cell. While the manhunt is underway, a heart attack victim's family presses for an investigation and Kurt takes up online dating at his daughter's urging.

○ They light Branagh spectacularly in this show. Every damn shot is gorgeous.
○ I had to rewind repeatedly to get the screen caps of Hiddleston in the basement. I kept getting distracted by his voice. Hiddlestoned indeed.
○ Yes, screen cap-wise this does seem to be all Hiddles all the time.

A young girl burns herself to death in a field and a series of powerful men are brutally murdered. Could all the deaths be connected and what would powerful, older men have to do with a teenage girl.

Kurt: What kind of world are we leaving a fifteen year old girl that she would burn herself to death?

 

Salomonsson: You want to make a difference? Join the fire brigade.

 

Kurt: So now we know we are looking for someone who seems completely normal on the surface. Very helpful.

 

Povel: What? You want to solve it? Well, you can't. It is what it is.

 

Salomonsson: That maniac puts an ax through my skull, by God, you'll pay.

Comments:
1) Why is he always out by himself? You have a team Wallander. Take one of them with you.
2) My sister is right. This is a pretty depressing series. It's not going to stop me from watching it though. I'll just watch some Phineas and Ferb afterwards. It works after most Michael Fassbender flicks.

Based on the novels of Swedish author Henning Mankell, the BBC series Wallander premiered on November 30, 2008. The series follows the travails of Swedish detective Kurt Wallander and his investigative team. Though dark in tone, there are brief moments of comedy, and no one can doubt the talent of the cast. Wallander airs as seasons of 3 hour and a half long episodes each (which seems typical for British television). Series 3 airs in July of 2012 and the fourth, and final, series has yet to be filmed.
